I'm fed up being confused with Hendrix so think its time for a name change. Have you any suggestions or should opt for SirJamesEnstoneBMB? If so what rituals should I follow to avoid bad luck?

Drink a lot of champagne, but don't slap the bottle to your forehead, as it might increase the hangover even further.

Is that Jimi McHendrix, the strange Scottish half brother who played guitar right handed, or the American Guitar Virtuoso you're getting mistaken for.

How about calling yourself Jimima? That could get you mistaken for a rag doll from Playschool though.

Done Jemima Watendruis .. some time ago. Got banned with that one so not a good idea to revisit the transexual polish Red Army tank driver currently languishing in a siberian salt mine ;-)

Are you not supposed to run round your mast three times, put a dab of tar on your keel and buy drinks for your forum mates? Be very careful taking the old name off, cos I've heard that it can be quite painful trying to peel the stickers from the bum. You may also find that there is a ghost of the old name still visible, so you're best off with a new name that is longer than the old one.

Taking full account of your ethnic background and biting humour, I would have thought that Midgie might be a suitable new name, with the added bonus of being a sort of phonetic anagram of the old one.

avoiding bad luck

Surely you are an expert on this ? I and others would love to know of the daily rituals you must surely perform to persuade Lady Luck to have given you the ability to crack mirrors without touching them, an unusual proximity to the ground for picking things up, not being from too near the roughest parts of Glasgow, and nothing going wrong with the boat, ever.
