i would like to inspect the chainplates on my N390 (no 25, 1987) but it appears that to do this i would have to cut into the cabinet work.
has anyone ever carried out this inspection and if so, how did you minimise the damage to the woodwork?
i'm unaware of any inherent problem with the Najad chainplates but would just like to carry out a routine check.

I have a Najad 390. There is no need to cut into the woodwork on our boat as there are side access covers to every chain plate. Getting your head around to appear in though isn't very practical so best use a mirror or camera.
If you wanted to you could quite easily remove each chain plate although I've never bothered but do occasionally have to reseal where they pass through the deck.

However, I have looked on your web site and noticed that your boat doesn't appear to have the same side access covers.

Ours is built 1989 so a slight mod to your 1987 spec.

Incidentally, if I was adding access covers I would suggest using a multitool to cut the access holes. The covers are made from Mahogony and look the same as the covers to the underside of the tracks.

Thanks for that. you are right, there must have been a mod made after 1987!
i have just discovered an USB endoscope and camera which i intend to buy which will limit the cutting required to a small hole,
incidentally, when you have inspected your own chainplates, have you discovered any problems?
many thanks for your reply.
