Hi

Has anyone ever been asked to provide this document by a port/customs authority and
a) managed to obtain one from HMRC
b) contested the request successfully

The boat is French built delivered to UK with VAT paid, original invoice, registration and builders certs in hand.

I inderstand that it's only Cyprus, Croatia and PT who ever ask for the doc and to me it looks like a completely crazy request as the N2L is used to certify product that is shipped in to the eu not that is built and sold within it....

Best regards

Do you mean T2L? I've never heard of N2L. T2L is the SAD that is used in all countries.

I would expect a T2L was created when your boat was transported new from France to UK, but that the selling dealer didn't give it to you (indeed, they don't generally). You wont get it from HMRC; you'll have to ask the dealer or the builder.

I got one because my boat was shipped UK-Italy when new, and I've kept it just in case Portugal or similar ask for it. Italy asked for it when the ship unloaded my boat.

General rumour is that Portuguese are insistent. They shouldn't need it because everything it tells you can be evidenced by other means, but internet chat suggests they demand it. IMHO you should try to get them to back off by showing your UK VAT invoice and similar. Good luck

Sorry John, typo.

Yes that all makes sense. I will email the factory tomorrow but will make a first pass at the Faro Customs Office tomorrow and see if they can be convinced with the pack I have when we signed for the boat.
I think that I'll park my uk registered car around the block....;)
Many thanks
