I am just back from checking the boat at the marina, was getting a steady 35 knots wind speed and quite a swell in the marina! Was tempted to stay onboard for the night but I had only had 2 bottles of beer in the fridge....

Yeah, I was watching the forecast earlier & thinking it would be a tad breezy. Fortunately for SR, it will be going straight over her head with a hill one side & the castle the other. SW'lies create havoc in the Straits on the ebb, but the river is well out of it.

Good luck & best wishes to any who are out in it.

There are still a few boats on the PD moorings. Not good in these conditions. I wonder if any will have to be retrieved from Nelson's clutches down at indefatigable in the morning?

I had a look last night, but you have accidentally locked the booze away behind several locks and security systems.

I didn't bother with Providence as I have never seem any evidence there is any alcohol on her, so a raid would probably be a waste of time.

The boats were all dancing last night and I will have a look this morning. I am not here this weekend, so I will pass the night watchman's duties over to Fizz and Bizz.

Oi,...... get yourself out there and check on LS, I'm not down this weekend so it's up to you to make sure the funbox is safe :) whilst your at it Providence as well.

Tom

Supposed to be in Conwy today removing the top off of a big engine but its forecasting 30 kt gusts by 13.00hrs!
Sod that, so I will nip down to Dinorwic and check me boat aint blown off of its beer barrels and check L Ship etc;)

Carte blanche to check fun boxes eh?
Must be Providence:)

Ah, you are mistaken old boy.

Have no fear, we'll keep an eye on things. I think the blow is subsiding a bit tonight anyway.

Well, I've never been invited to have a sample.

My reputation precedes me.

Just done my rounds.

LS, Briza, Provi and Mirromile all okay.

Phil, can you check on mine tomorrow. I have to go back down there later - with the gate key this time - and shorten the bow rope as she is going back too far.

Still blowing here and riding my bike I was hard pressed to make headway, the ride back was very fast!

The boats on the moorings all appear to be doing 20 knots! With even the raggies making a wake.

A container ship is giving 'shelter' a fishing boat is on the way to help
A Helicopter is on stanby, it is hoped She can be towed to safety.
The vessel has an engine but the skipper is reluctant to use it.
Rigging may foul the prop it seems!

Thanks, you're a gent

But of course, no problem. We'll be down later this afternoon.

I went with HM round the council estate, mainly as a yot was trying to leave to go to Dinas. He was at the base of the walkway ramp and we could see that he was going nowhere.

We warped him off and the last we saw he was off Dinas waiting for the lift.

There was no way he would have got off the pontoon by himself.

The Menai baots just came in. The crews looked 'windswept'.

Yes, I like to see that in Caernarfon, while I'm sat in the sun in t-shirt & shorts, drink in hand & then the sea-faring types come in - swaddled in oilies, L/J's caps scarves & gloves. One usually gives them a cheery wave & asks - was it fun coming in over the Bar? :D

Just arrived home, MC was right, it was very blowy Friday night down at PD. We watched the RNLI rib and rescue helipcopter making passes up and down the Straits, obviously looking for something/somebody. Turns out a tender had been blown off the pontoons in the outer basin and washed out into the Straits, they found it overturned but didn't know if anyone had been in it.
A reminder to make sure tenders are secure as well as boats.
