COULD ANYBODY SHED SOME LIGHT ON A HALF FINISHED
YACHT I'VE BOUGHT ?

APPARENTLY SHE'S A MATADOR

24 FOOTER, GRP,BILGE KEEL,INBOARD DIESEL

BUILT BY STIRLING BOAT CONSTRUCTION,ABOUT 1980.

THATS ALL I KNOW ABOUT HER,ALL ENQUIRIES THUS FAR HAVE DRAWN A BLANK,ANY INFORMATION WOULD BE MUCH APPRECIATED

No idea! As a matter of etiquette, typing in upper case is deemed as shouting and is agressive - please use lower case unless of COURSE YOU WANT TO MAKE A POINT

Hi Alan and welcome to the forum. One of our clubmember's has a Matador 23 and I wonder if this could be the same boat. A pretty looking hull with a high bow and a narrow stern. I'll see him at the weekend and ask him more about it.
Ted.

Hi Alan

I have a Matador, it’s my first boat and you are the only other owner I’ve heard of.
I did see a Matador for sale on ebay (part finished) but it was sold privately before the auction finished.
Is that the one you bought?
I’d be very interested in swapping notes about various bits and pieces.
I have some large scale drawings of the original plans if they are any use to you, I could let you have an electronic copy.
I have just finished my first sailing season and I’m very pleased with the boats sea worthiness (is that a word) and accommodation. Just don’t expect it to go fast.

hi colin,

yes indeed my matador is the ebay model ! can there really only be two ?
it's about 75% done and hopefully will be launched next spring.
i've got loads of questions and not just about the boat !
this is my first yacht as well ( i spent several years in the RN but its been a while since the navy used sail power )
so,where to start ?
she has a mast but no boom and no sails
she has a petter 6 hp (more of which later )
she has a lovely old taylors parafin hob/oven
she needs finishing off below deck(including electrics)
she's in my back garden !

she was in East Sussex but after a 30 hour journey (yes 30 hours ) she is now on the Black Isle (Moray Firth Scotland )
and i plan to sail her locally and eventually when i know my arse from my elbow up the west coast of Scotland.

thanks for the offer of the plans,i've already got them, mine include sail dimensions if you need them.

fancy starting an owners club ? (2's company , 3's a crowd !)

i will send a pm when i know how,

this could all be a steep learning curve

yours aye

alan

This is without doubt the best place in the world for help and advice concerning all things boaty.
I personally do not have a great deal of experience, but like yourself, I'm learning fast.
I downloaded and saved the pictures of your boat when |I spotted it on ebay and I'm very jealous of the smart cockpit hatch lids you have. Mine are naff plywood.
My email is colin37@gmail.com an association or mutual benefit society sounds like what we need. email me anytime with questions, if I can help I will.
Samphire (that's what mines called) seems to be very forgiving and has given me a lot of confidence to go blithely into the north sea in a good breeze with no worries.
