Reminds me of the 'Wing' anchor that was marketed about 40 years ago. When you dropped it overboard, it was supposed to go down more horizontally than vertically, spinning like a sycamore seed, purportedly so you didn't have to fall back on it to set it. Claimed that if correctly dropped, it would go 5ft forwards for every 1 ft it sank.

The YM reviewer described it as the most useless anchor ever. Management waited with bated breath for the summons ....

It's a classical puny Hermit design; that is to say an *nch*r*t*.



Probably at some exhibition ?

Well I have no idea what type it is (or even if it is any type at all) but here is a picture showing the windlass associated with it.

This may give a clue as to where I saw it.

Is it one of the anchors used when they install the wind generator bases to hold them in position by the 'mothership' vessel. Saw a programme on the QUEST channel a while ago where they were doing this job.
