mystere 26

I am considering buying a Mystere 26. Does anyone have any particular views on this boat as a first purchase for south coast cruising and cross-channels etc.

Any info on generic problems or things to look out for would be appreciated.

Quite good sailing performance, designed I think as a quarter tonner, but very cramped for a 26' boat and horrible wheel steering - could never get rid of the screeching graunching noise!

Anyone else had this wheel issue? I'd be keen to hear what other designs of a similar size and cost (Approx £7-9k) people would advise.

See my post on the other forum - my chum's mystere has a tiller. The other one in the yard has a wheel and is fine. Come to think of it, the deep keel accommodation is more restricted. As I said, I'm not sure of the model.
