I can't say that I had a very boaty weekend, except for a cruise down the Thames from Hampton Court to Kingston on Turk Boats.

But, in that short trip I saw what I will have to face when I put my boat on the Thames in August. Do people actually keep a look out, especially with all the people swimming in the Thames in the hot weather?

Saturday night was spent at Kew Gardens with Jools Holland and a large amount of Pimms and champange.

Followed by a good day on Sunday at Lords watching England play Pakistan.

But tomorrow - Wednesday - I am taking the day off work and I am going to mess about in the boat all day and may even attempt my first circumnavigation of Anglesey.
 
my lot were swimming at kingston this sun at kingston and must say it does worry me as in do the boaters keep a proper look out swmbo and miniskipper are strong swimmers and do cross the river close to kingston bridge I keep an eye but still am very nervous I know they keep a look out but ??????

perhaps in future should limit them to one side ???

the most worrieng are the turks launches and similar
 
The skipper of the Turk boat I was on, was sounding his Klaxon everytime he saw ANY swimmers ahead of him. I will give him that, but some of the private MOBOS need a good kicking. I did say some, but it only takes one.....
 
agree with you the launches are licenced and have to be responsible private mobos dont have to be and as such can be less diligent am not saying all or going for a witch hunt but have observed this

mind you swiming here well really swimmers should stay close to the banks and on reflection will ask swmbo and miniskip to do so

at the end of the day I would not want to have this sitting on my concience
