A few pics from our 3 week trip, from Teddington to Iffley and back.
Incident free(apart from a broken gear cable when entering Cookham lock), which meant limping home in the pouring rain on one engine:(

Cheers. It was meant to be two weeks, but I had an Internet connection so managed to 'work from home for week 3':D

One of my favourite spots was opposite the pillbox above Days. One the way up, my wife noticed the air change when she was standing on the front of the boat. She said it smelt so clean and sweet scented that I had to turn around and moor up! A beautiful spot.
Above Abingdon is a gem. I wish I could have found a place on the meadows above the lock. We continued through Iffley lock and spent the night by the pub. Great place. All run down and like something you'd find in the South of France.

For the first 10 days, my nephew joined us, which was great for my son as they're good mates and the same age(10).
The holiday was geared up for them more than us adults, but it made it more fun as far as I was concerned. Bicycle rides, out in the dinghy, swimming in the Thames and Hurley Regatta. Their favourite place was Wallingford.

Lovely photos, very atmospheric, not a slum boat or broken pump out in sight :)

Blimey blast from the past, recognise your boat,Paradise is it?
The old girl would have enjoyed her trip back up river.Used to be kept at Osney in the mid 80's before coming down river and mooring on the waterworks moorings just above Platts Eyot, belonged to a friend of my folks.

Thanks for the compliments on the pics.
That's the boat, Flynnbar. I've owned her for the past 10 years. I often think I should have traded up by now, but I've grown too attached to her. One days perhaps. ;)

Nice boats and I'm glad to see her being looked after and used as a family boat.

That Kent screen has been used in anger on the tide way when conditions were a tad lively to say the least:)
Chap told my father a story that he was trundling down the tide way with a lady friend on board who'd never set foot on a boat before.Having got the forecast wrong and taking a bit of a pounding, said lady pipes up,is it always like this?
Not wanting to worry her of course he replied it's fine whilst thinking.....flippin eck!
Don't think it spoiled his wkend:)

She had a Francis searchlight back then I think.

Very nice pics! 3 weeks and no cabin fever- wow! Like the idea of working afloat too. Wallingford is nice, there used to be a good Thai restaurant there, not sure if its still going though. And the Nags Head at Abingdon very good too, if a bit pricey.
