Hi Everyone

I new here and would like to pick peoples thoughts.

Iv been sailing on and off for some years and have completed a day skipper course (mostly forgotten now).

I really want to get back into sailing and buy my own boat. The problem is my girlfriend. She suffers from anxiety and struggles with travelling and fears the thought of going on a boat. Last year she flew for the first time and didnt enjoy it. But she now has the travel bug and wants to see more of the world. With a trip to Italy planned this year.

I live in Lincoln UK which is an hour from the sea but we have good inland waterways. So i was thinking if there is a sailboat that i could bring onto the waterways? It would allow her to get used to the boat for a year or so on easy water before we would take it to the coast to try and start some sailing.

Iv seen something called the Macgregor 26 that has a water ballast and can motor in shallow water. But i have no need to trailer it.

Is there a sail boat that can sail on uk inland waterways? For me, sailing is about the adventure and cruising, i have no desire to race. With that in mind we would prefer more comfort than great speed under sail.

Please help as my knowledge is low and i dream of sailing with my girlfriend to be a part of it.

Thanks :)
