My oh my but it\'s been a long time...

Hello hearties

Many will prolly not remember me, but managed to get the boat out and sailing this weekend for the first time since August. Yes, August 2004. I know, I know, 11 months.

Found myself spending much of the weekend asking HWMO questions both pertinent and intellligent, such as "What does this bit of string do, darling?" and "Why can't I put 20 crumpled pages of my novel down the loo, sorry, heads?" and "But how am I meant to sail south if the wind is blowing from that direction?". You get the sorry picture.

Anyway, just wanted to say Chi harbour was a delight, as was the boat, as were the other boaters, as was the weather, as was The Coal Bucket pub in Emsworth and life, once again, is good.

Isn't sailing a blast?!

Wondered what had become of you, welcome back! If it's not a delicate question, what forced the 11 month absence?

We're off for 3 weeks in the morning

Not delicate question, just very sad. Hubbie's mum was diagnosed with terminal cancer so we've spent all spare time with my parents-in-law since early December. She, however, was always very keen for us to get back to normal and get back in our boat, which she loved seeing in Brighton, waving to us as we sailed out to Chi last June. It's all been darn heartbreaking. We were there when she died 4 weeks ago, bless her heart, and I can almost hear her saying in her Belfast accent "Oh stop yer fussing, and get back on yer wee boat!".

So, always being one to heed my mother-in-law, we are planning another possible assault on Pilsey Island this coming weekend.

She'd be proud.

We were sailing the stout-hearted K20+ St Teresa - JD is still on dry land, we've not done a thing to her for months, for reasons explained in reply to tome. A fair bit of work to do to the K30 - engine stuff, GRP, re-rigging, electrics, pipes, etc., etc. All good clean fun!

We will be selling St T at the end of the season - two boats is just silly, not to mention pocket-draining - though I do love the idea of side-by-side his 'n' hers cruising; I would, of course, demand the larger of the two vessels..!

Web space went to the dogs, along with doggie pics etc., and I haven't had time to sort it out. I really want to spend some time re-doing it all, but so much to do at the mo' it's not really a priority. Soon come, as my Jamaican grandfather would say...

Sorry to hear this, she sounds like she was a lovely soul. Ah well, who are you to argue with her generous command?

How sad. Her memory will stay with you as long as you sail. Ten years from now you'll have crossed Biscay (or whatever) and you'll think of her. I sailed into Horta (a lifetime's ambition) ten years after my Dad had died and my first thought was that I couldn't share the experience with him.

Nice to see you back Justine and my condolences to Andrew and yourself. I was in the same position 6 months earlier - also in N. Ireland.
