Launched the my new web site today after what seems ages. There are still a couple of small jobs to do, but I would appreciat it if a few forumites would have a go and try to break it or confuse themselves.

Any comments, good or bad would be most welcome.

Jez

Looking good.

"Managing Director" - now, that's a title.
What do you do? "I'm the MD".
You just need a car park space that has a little sign saying "Reserved for the MD" to complete the effect /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Very nice - I like the 24.

My only observation is that I am a 'Hold shift and open picutre in new window' person. So using your site I find it still has the picture there when I close the one I opened.

Does that make any sense?

Well,

In the first line you mention Eire. There is no such country!

Irish pedants like me get very annoyed by this. It's the Republic of Ireland or just Ireland. Not Southern Ireland nor Eire. If you want to sell to Irish people don't pi** them off by getting the name of their country wrong!

Eire existed for a short time after the Irish Free State but in the 60s or 70s they changed the name.

Right, rant over, now I'll look beyond the first line!

Right, good idea. I'll get my PA (SWMBO) to order one for the drive at home. Now, if I could just work out how to send her an email from my Blackberry......

Urm, not really sure what you mean. What do you mean by 'hold shift and open'?

"Eire is the Irish name of the island called Ireland in the English language..."

"In 2006 it was announced that the Republic of Ireland would use nameplates bearing Éire and Ireland at European Union meetings from 2007..."

From Wiki: is it wrong ?

In the 'range' section, the 2nd paragraph has an unexplained "D" in it. As below.

The walk-around range incorporating the W23 and W24 offers a sports boat that has been developed to be used every day Ð regardless of conditions.

The build a boat section could do with a totaliser on the bottom of it (unless of course I just didn't see it because the boat I built had everything on it /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif )

Mmmm - again is this not the forum being used for commercial gain, seem to remember someone getting blasted for daring to sell his boat on the forum the other week

subtle it isnt - IMHO

I like the "build a boat" - only seen this before on car sites and very useful imho.

There are a few changes I'd make to the script in various place but probably down to personal preferance.. I can PM if you want.

no its supposed to be helping out a fellow boater proof read his website and gain valuable feed back from fellow boaters.. bah humbug

I took the time to call some of my business buddies after reading your post.

Not one out of four would object to the name Eire as we all understand it to mean the island of Ireland.

It's 2007 - all that stuff is in the past.

I don't want to hijack Jez's thread but no Irish person I know including half my family calls it Eire.

To get back on theme - looked at the rest of the site and it looks very good Jez.

I did consider that before posting. Also sent a PM to Keith.

I do need people to test the site, and comment on it and I can't think of a better, more diverse bunch than on the Mobo forum. I know I will receive honest opinions and useful critisism. The web address is in my signature anyway, and under the forum rules I have a reciprical link back to YBW on my site (it's in the news section). In the post, I have conatined no boat details, images etc.

If you feel this is too commercial, then I apologise. But I felt it was reasonable.

True we don't call it Eire but I don't think using the term will hinder Jez from selling boats here.
