Oo, err missus! Tomorrow early, I am off with raven to take his yacht to Fleetwood for over winter. It should be a two day trip, which I am looking forward to.

I've been boatless since July and I need to settle this argument inside my head once and for all - would I enjoy sailing yacht ownership? The trip will take us out from Porthmadog and round through Bardsey (hopefully at slack water!) and then north up to Holyhead (Anglesey) for the first leg where we overnight. We then set of early doors for the second leg round the Island and north east (ish) toward Fleetwood by Thu night.

She's a good strong steel hulled vessel, so the IOM ferry just better stay the hell out of our way. Scharnhorst coming through - woop - woop - woop! :D

Maybe some piccies if I get some good ones!

moboers are deserting in canvas bags!! Woo!! :)

I got off very lightly! The week after I sold my boat (LPG powered) the marina removed the LPG and left only petrol and diesel, and now LPG is no more for the whole of the north of England and wales. Now that would have made my boat expensive to run. Ah well, it was 6 good years while it lasted.

It was sailing in the North West out of Fleetwood that put me off sailing! It is prone to being cold, windy and wet. Add that to fighting the currents and cyclone like wind patern and I am sure you will have fun!

When it is nice it is a great place to sail though and when I sailed out of Liverpool I had some great times on a big old 44ft yacht, so I hope you get good weather. Of course you will also use less diesel, have a proper bed, get some excercise etc.

Please let us know how you get on and fair sailing!

Paul
