Well, after a full check and clean of 12 Injectors, spending hours on end on the outside of each engine whilst dismanteling, sealing a exhaust leak on one of the turbochargers (counterbore seal), finding a vent valve on coolingwater locked open, rather than closed, sorted out some of the cosmetic damage caused by this ... (need to check other engine now), I felt rather smug appearing from the depths of the DD's to start up the lumps. Nice turnover ... ticking now at 550 RPM with no hint of hunting and just a tad of smoke at startup ... no one running to ask if we were on fire or anything... what a great feeling and wanted to have a blast on the water. Then starting to cleanup when I lost water pressure .... "just a empty tank" I said... and went to get the hose to fill up ... Started filling up and started the pump again.... "it will take some time to build up pressure" I said to myself.... now after 10 min, started to worry just a bit...., so stopped filling and started to trace pipes from pump (stern) and forewards towards the tank.... lifted the hatch in foreward cabin.........boy how we laughed when we found that we had filled the watertight compartment with water (1,000 L tank)...... one of the connectors from the tank, underneath the bed had decided to "have some fun". Now dry and will spend WE to go over the freshwater system and replace all valves, connectors and clamps on hoses. Well, at least we proved that the bilge pump in this area works perfect.... and better having the problem now, than in the summer when using the boat. What fun this stuff can be .... now where did I put the Malt???

Any chance that you could store Cheryl in your watertight compartment Alf?She won't stop going on about my lack of progress with the house.
Is it soundproof as well?
Regards, Al.

Al,

Age, vital measures etc., needed before answering this one please... /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

With respect to soundproofing, I guess that you simply would not care as it is not in your boat... but sound dampening could easily be fitted...

Drain valve, from compartment where watertank resides may be opened and cross compartment valve may also be opened ..........

Plenty of space, but may need to re-route the overlying pipes if frequent access to compartment is needed (above 35 Cm square).

Sounds like you are getting on great, apart from the small mishap.

Remember if you can't find that Malt, i have one here i can share with you, although i was keeping it to enjoy with you, for when you sail round to West side!!! /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Small mishaps are inevitable here... afterall she is 20 years old ... most important is safety and the fact that I am getting to knwo all the systems and various things that are onboard... tracing cables, pipes etc., and making them where they go to and from.

West coast is definetly on the map for the spring and are already setting up routes and potential morings for weekdays.... then return for WE.... The malt felt needed as after the great up, it was balanced by a downer ... but then again, I am getting stuck into it all and better having it happening now than when at sea

Hah! only twenty years old,the Gel coats hardly dry then. What you want is something 35 years, then decide to live aboard.
When we moved on (Cheryl took a little persuading) within 2 days the heating element broke in the hot water tank so I led her sobbing up to the shower complex (portacabin) on a freezing cold rainy night,ah thats ok then I'll have one as well.Within 3 minutes the whole thing tripped and left her a lathered up now crying mess in total darkness. You ok dear I called out tentatively?,Well such language I've never heard before or since, she went to Convent school as well.Led her back to the boat covered in suds in the freezing rain now crying uncontrollably.
Found and reset the trip but I don't know why,she did'nt wish to complete her cleansing.
Managed to get a new element via the forum (thanks you saved my life)double quick.
She puts up with a lot really, tell you what though, life on board is never, ever dull.

Well, my wife did go to a convent school as well, so we do have a couple of things in common then .... And you are right... the gelcoat is just about dry ... it is just the hoses and connectors that is playing up a bit right now ... probably objecting to the colder climate up here....

Any chance of getting some of the pictures of your new interior.... my friend with the Laguna is very interested ....
