Last night we decided as it was so warm and the sea state smooth, that we would go for a sunset cruise. Dropped anchor just short of Estepona, at about 8.30pm and for the first time since owning boats I used a bathing platform for other than standing on to get onto the boat.

We were diving off the side and using the little ladder to get back onto the platform.

All this alien to me as conditions and temperatures never seemed to be right off Brighton.

Absolute bliss.

We dangle a thermometer over the side and anything more than 19 degrees C and we're in. (do not trust the temp reading on my Raymarine). Just great to be able to do this at the end of May....and it can only get better.

Re: first time

Also, the canvas cover is to keep sun off, not rain. You can stay out at anchor all night yerknow, then in the morning just run off the end of the boat and into sea.

Who needs the Med, I do this from my boat of Herm most evenings when the tides right.

Altho I wouldn’t say no to it being a bit warmer for wen you get in past the nads.

Re: first time

Was it not you, in answer to the question "does it rain in the Med in the summer" who said "why do you think its so green?" and why am I having to have my canvas top re-weatherproofed? To keep the sun off. I dont think so

Re: first time

ahem er well.

the leopard cover is bigger and has even more leaks than the fairline. So i got a simple cover to go over the whole thing Keeps the crap off the bimini (it's white) and more weatherproof and keeps temperature down thru windscreen too.

I hope they aren't doing it right now cos erm it's chucking it down tonight...

Re: first time

What do you mean by 'simple cover'? Does it go over the top of the original and fit onto the same fixings or what?

Re: first time

It's not see through, with windows, just a big blimmin hat that fits over windscreen and sides, protects them from sun and ordinary cover from birshit and bleaching, tied on the rails, around radar fixings, and erm ooh i think you have nice rails at the front, lines to that would do nicely. We only puttit on when it totally and utterly chucks it down, and when we leave the boat.
