Portland Race ??? where is it?

I see what you mean. When was that taken ?? I went inside Portland Race twice so far. Once in the fog and dark. Strange experience. And once in a force 7!. Had no option really.but it was strangely quite through there. spooky place. Round safely tho.

Taken on the 25/5/04 2pm - No wind and a little west bound tide. I motored all the way from Weymouth to Dartmouth 10.5 hours.

Plenty of pots to watch out for!

Its there - waiting for you - either up or downtide! Give it a couple more hours and a good strong breeze and you will know ALL about it I promise you!

I once arrived from the west 1.5 hours early in a SW 5, and the kids reckoned it beat anything Alton Towers had to offer....

I second that. Found myself there with wind over tide. Managed to read the tidal diamond correct but used portsmouth and not dover HW.

It was not a pleasant few hours and the boat has never recorded 10.8 knts since !

I always give it a wide berth now regardless, once bitten !
