This is a tough one for me as my boat mags have been threatened with an eviction notice.

Whilst they were banned from the WC years ago they have been cleared from the big poofy thing in the lounge and my secret supply which live under the bed now under threat....

My boaty mags are of significant historical interest and I am exploring various legal remedies to keep them in the house.

Am I the only one facing such a crisis and any suggestions would be appreciated?

One answer.

SHED.

The only LEGAL remedy is divorce. Not recommended though.

How about the loft? If you want few more mags I've got most of them from 1987!

Build a den.

I had to convert the loft space into a computer room, that also contains boaty mags, models (not femail) and anything else that wifey interested in throwing out. Although I have to do the cleaning this is not a problem because nothing gets removed.

Alternatively buy another boat that is just for your use - I'll go halves and bring my mags as well.

Nah - buy one of those magazine rack / toilet roll holders - excellent. Not only do they hold 2 rolls of the best andrex - there is enuf space for a copy (or 2) of MBM, Top Gear, F1 magazine and a few of those boaty mail order catalogs (compass, nautiwhatsit, etc)
and for SWMBO she can have Ok, HELLO, GOOD BUY, and the TV Guide.

best bit is they are all kept tidy.

Worked for me.

The last time I moved I decided that the cost of shipping my old mag stock was not justified. I therefore spent a very enjoyable fortnight going through the old issues and cutting out only those articles that were truly of ongoing interest. I filed these very carefully.

When I moved, my daughter gave me a hand. She saw these old files - and binned them....

you think you have problems.
I have 3 years of Beat Instrumentals from the sixties
10 years worth of Bike Magazine
Hundreds of Guitarist magazines and the CD's
Countless posters from when I was in Video
Hundreds of SF books
1 copy of Penthouse and 4 years worth of MBY
My loft is heaving and I will never be able to move house

Nick, Nick, you've not got this sussed at all mate! Buy a hobby shed (96 sq ft like mine) and you'll never look back. It cost me under a grand including the base which you could park a tank on and its got all my gear in. That includes all boat mags, all Astronomy mags (another hobby!) and its my workshop. Oh - and its houses my telescope.

I was in there today and finshed making the windscreen wipers for my Windy and also machining the new seat back connectors for the upholstery.

Its great! I got all my tools and gear in there and I have great fun making stuff 'cos I'm a frustrated engineer.

Buy one.

My mags were evicted years ago. Take them to your office like I do. I have a bookcase full of MBY/MBM issues dating back to 1988 (anorak or what?). It means my whole day can now be filled with logging onto this forum and leafing thru back issues, no time for work at all

Nicholas - You Are Unbelievable!

What Nonsense!!!

All I asked is for you to move the five that were piled on the 'Foot Stool' up stairs with your others under the bed where I can't see them. As for the ones under the bed I did not ask that they be removed only the big box containing the boat manuals/electronics info that I keep stubbing my toe on when making the bed every day.

If you want to talk magazine evictions - what about the half a loft full of car magazines dating back to the 60's you have had since you were a child. You said you were no longer interested in cars now you have a boat!!

Its got to be one or the other - the decision is yours.
