My autopilot support bracket has cracked ...

That piece will receive direct sunlight over 150 days of the year. It faces SSW, and the sun here is 10 degrees higher in the sky than what you are used to in the southern part of the UK.

I'm thinking more about a wooden solution now, most Acetal on the market is not UV resistant, or the resistant grades hard to source. The links given by earlier posters lead to Acetal / Delrin that is not UV resistant.

There are any number of tufnol winches that have been outside, subjected to the elements and sunlight, for the last 30 years and more. They are mostly still as good as when manufactured. Offcuts are easy to find on ebay.

Here in the Medway towns, there is a very famous wood company called Morgan's timber, Who I'm sure would ship to you what ever you wanted. They can supply exotic timbers.including Oak, green or otherwise.01634 290909 at the last count 23 different species.

Thanks for the pointer.

I contacted Robbins Timber (Bristol) today near closing time and they will send me a quotation on Monday. If post and packaging isn't too high that should give a positive solution early next week.
