All I did was click on TCM's post about fairlines and pressed view flat then the computer seemed to explode. when the smoke had cleared the post had gone. Please accept my aplologies and please could someone explain how I managed it as there are 473 emails in my inbox at work that could do with the same treatment

Thread deleted

Okay, I'll start with the first bit. I'm jiggered and I would really like to go find the berth on the boat I am staying on tonight now.

Secondly, the thread, which contained what I thought were relevant general comments about motorboats passing too close to other motorboats and yachts, also contained specific allegations regarding certain boats including one stemming from several years back and one on 13 September. The claim made has been disputed, both sides claim their account correct but the thing was rapidly degenerating into something that would have ended in tears.

Plus I want to go to dinner. Hence puff of smoke. Would be grateful if we can leave it there please.

Don't mention seal#nes, seems he might not be on their xmas card list!!

And what are you doing over here, another bloody raggie trying to take over the premier forum, time for you to crawl back to butkicker!!

i stupidly thought I had been on a boat on saturday and got knocked about by some wash from a specific training powerrboat 10-15 metres away in a specific place at a specific time, and verified the same with other crew. Thankfully, the boss of the angry powerboat company has kindly informed me that no such occurrence took place as that boat simply was not there, according to his staff. I am very pleased that this has been cleared up so conclusively. The thread has been pulled. Sorry about your puter.

Now my parrot-dropping encrusted little gem, hows things? I come over here quite a bit, I find it gives me balance and perspective. I feel the same every Sunday when I go to the paper shop in the village and have a sneaky look at the News of the World and such before collecting my Observer.
Arf Arf.

Re: Thread deleted

Kim,

I think you got it really wrong on this one. TCM made an allegation or two. GBW defended it. TCM countered. Far too early, in my view, to say it's out of hand.

If you go deleting threads all over the place on the grounds they may, at some indefinite time in the future, get out of hand, there'll not be much left to read.

Also, I don't think you've done Sealine/GBW any favours.

I understand

That you've been getting the beers in down there and that half the falorum - well Tome to be precise, is the worse for drink at your expense.
Jimi and I trust that this generous hospitality will still be forthcoming at the London Show?
May your giving hand never wither.

Re: Thread deleted

Well, it wasn't just a straight exchange between TCM and GBW; there were a couple of other posts offering comments creeping in that would have just driven the thing into a mess...I have seen it happen quite a few times before.

I have organised that TCM and GBW should speak together and I hope something constructive comes from the conversation. With due respect it's not every organisation that you would find sorting this kind of thing at 9.30pm, nor every company chairman that would answer his phone three times to try and sort it out at that time nor every poster that you would find reponsing positively to a request to sort things in a civilised manner. So please don't think I've tried to brush this under the carpet but the nature of MBC is that thread drift can seriously skew a serious exchange and I want that to be avoided on this occasion.

Well my whisky guzzling imposter, quite understand why you need perspective after standing out in all that cold wet weather in pursuit of your chosen hobby. Welcome to the world of warmth, tee shirts and gin, lots of gin, ice cold beers, all those things that you raggies probably dare not dream of.

News of the World eh, suppose you're looking for the educational supplement!

Agreed. I'm frequently surprised at and impressed by your propensity to have eyes in the back of your head and GBW earns and deserves respect, and has mine, for tackling a difficult issue head on.

Also agreed. But I wouldn't put TCM in that category.

Your call, Kim. This time, I don't agree with it, most times I do. But - so what?

Re: Thread deleted

I'd have had more respect had the company chairman made a serious effort to get his facts straight before launching onto the offensive .. perhaps thats the real reason why the thread's been deleted?

Re: Thread deleted

yes, pretty much.

The coverup is interesting too. Also, the ineptitude of a boss who says right guys have any of you done something naughtyish, and he believes them when they say ooh no no no. When of course, he's got to tease it out of them, not threaten their jobs as he seems to be doing. That boat was definitely there.

Re: Thread deleted

You've seen my views on the thread deletion. Why it was done is conjecture. It's Kim's job and he can explain or not as he wishes/feels appropriate/politic.

As for Sealine/GBW, he is chairman of a substantial company. He didn't have to come on here and respond directly to TCM's complaint. The fact he did, regardless of the rights and wrongs of the argument, in my opinion deserves respect.

Self-evidently there was a mistake in the date but that could have been no more than a typo. Maybe his staff are defensive. Maybe with good reason. That's why I was interested to see how the argument played out.

Re: Thread deleted

No, Sealine and GBW already had my name and mobile phone number since monday morning. I spoke to them and left my name and number. But instead of calling me and sorting it out so then i could come back here and repond how nice they are as divemaster suggested - he decioded to explode the situation and call me a total liar, and use my name which he found from the sealine school, on the bulletin board. He failed to make the call this morning,. I don't really expect the call at all. Sometimes, a boss has to face the music. GBW hasn't and probably won't. Now I'm a bit cross.

Re: Thread deleted

regardless of rights and wrongs of argument . OK. But it was'nt, it was significant error of fact based on which he was accusing TCM by name of defamation etc. Not conduct worthy of respect .. perhaps conduct worthy of a senior government position .. but not of the CE a commercial company!

Re: \"My Observer\"

Ahh - clever little play on words -
Of course I refer to the worthy newspaper for which I pay a handsome amount, thus feeling entitled to call it 'Mine'
Reading your bio I'm not sure that you are my type so I think its safe to say that I shan't be calling you mine. I hope you can live with any disappointment this causes and offer you all assurances that it isn't personal.
