Murky dismal Grumble Tides

My local chandler has yet to receive the 2007 tide table booklets and I need to do some planning. So I hit the web. Naturally I came up against Her Majesty's cowboys - still don't see how HM government can copyright gravity - but I did come across the Port of London site. Now, they can provide me with tidal predictions for the whole of 2007. They give 7 ports including CORYTON. I am due south of that port and so the predictions for High water times at CORYTON are within minutes of Chatham.
So, how does the Port of London get away with this? Presumably because they have bought a licence from Liz's henchmen. Are there any other authorities that have this licence - best for the Medway?

WX Tide does everything, slightly odd system till you get the hang of it. Free too.

I thought this software was blocked by copyright and X-tide stopped from providing tidal data. I have just looked at the site again and I see that there are some 40 ports available in the UK.
Do you happend to know if any of then included Chatham or other
Medway ports?

Just looked on my version and it has Osea Island, Sarfend pier, Chatham, Tilbury, Royal Albert Dock, Margate, Ramsgate as subordinate stations in your area.

Two reasons really Gin:
I am on an official system at the moment that denies downloads and, I do not want to download and install software on my home system only to find it does not support the port I need.

I thought it was the purpose of this forum to promote free interchange of ideas and experiences so that all can benefit. Surely it is not intended to be a soapbox from which members can tell others to go and find the information for themselves?

Or am I wrong?

Im pretty sure they have them in Pirates Cave down at gillingham. It was either there or Allington marina that I saw them. They have changed in design though, think their red now.

[/ QUOTE ]Yes WXTide25 does as does WXTide32.
WXTide 25 was "withdrawn" because it used the Hydrographic Office data. WXTide32 uses different data so is not "copyrighted" and is free. The difference in the results is not worth bothering about as far as I have found and I have run both versions for several locations and dates / times.

There are more stations listed in WXTide25 than in WXtide32 or even WXTide45.

Quite so. I think perhaps Gin's freely-exchanged idea was that people might practice a little more self-reliance.

Whilst it was still being updated Wxtide and Wxtide32 were great. When I was checking for a trip that I will make in Late August Wxtide32 is about an hour out at London Bridge so I assume the rest of the UK is equally suspect.
At the same time I checked which port on the PLA list was useable for the Medway, Coryton is about the same IIRC Dover plus 1hr40

Edited to add that at present there is only about 10 minutes in it between the program and the PLA.
