Multi purpose grease on prop hub??

Hi,

I am changing my prop (in the water) this weekend.. I have a tub of multi purpose grease (http://cpc.farnell.com/1/1/32979-general-purpose-grease-500g-gr2500g-comma.html) already.. Would this be OK to grease up the hub and shaft when fitting the new prop?

If you are talking about a shaft with splines I would suggest the blue grease in a small tube that Volvo sell

If a taper then any grease would be pushed out when the prop is fitted

Why would you want to grease it? Fit props to tapers without grease. Be very careful when tightening the nut, it's easy to overdo tightening of a taper making future removal very difficult.

Sorry, probably should have mentioned it's a stern drive prop I am fitting so the thrust washer is a taper fit but the prop itself is on a spline..
