I own a restored Fisher 25 ketch-rigged motorsailer and replaced my mizzen staysail with a mule sail around two years ago. To add this mule sail, I added a backstay from the top of the main to the lower part of the mizzen and added a roller furling rig on the back stay. The former mizzen staysail was difficult to rig and had to be taken down and re-set when changing tacks. The mule sail is totally self tending, adds speed, and makes tacking easier. It can be used in all wind directions and is particularly effective in light winds and when close hauled. Contact me if you desire additional details. or photos. (dhherndon@aol.com)
