Muir - lofrans windlass

I need to replace my windlass , I'm trying to find a twin gypsy horizontal design, lofrans offer the Titan model as twin gypsy and muir offers the 4200 model with a similar twin gypsy plan , has anyone got either of these models or know of an alternative supplier, make or model ??

I was warned off Lofrans a few months ago. Takeover issues, no spares available, hard to get hold of etc., etc.
I ended up with a Lewmar. Don't know the Muir so can't comment.

I don't know the particular model you are looking for but I studied Muir a couple of years ago and spoke to them at SIBS. Most impressive, everything about their windlass looked well thought out and beautifully made. Unfortunately at the time they were very expensive thanks to exchange rates, so I bought a Maxwell, nearly as good.

I had same warnings from mate working in chandlery about same issues, it's a shame as they pop up on searches over and over again.

I had a quote from muir of close to £6000 which sent me looking at alternatives , was a quick response etc but spares coming from oz and delivery etc are a worry, I will look at maxwell now.

I had a Muir Cougar which was excellent and I had an Ideal vertical windlass which was also excellent. I don't know if Ideal are represented here but their product is first class - they do a range of horizontal windlasses also.

They do indeed make what I'm after , so will make enquiry as to cost
