HI all

Quick question-new boat, not been in water for some time. Have been replacing packing in gland but noticed when in gear I am still able to spin the prop in either direction (obviously with engine off!!). I always thought that this should not be possible to in in gear unless you have enough strength to turn the engine.

Any ideas what is going on? Going in the water on Monday and wondering if the gearbox is kaput!

Check that the remote control is actually moving the lever on the gearbox
if not and you have this type of control lever is the button #2 stuck in ( if you have another type see the owners manual)



Try disconnecting the cable at the g'box end and moving the lever on the box by hand

Yes- lever on gearbox defo moving in both directions when handle moves
