Hi,

With all the focus on the Sealine F46 on here regarding its usability and looks, I am surprised no one has commented on the article about Mr Wolf's FLine Squadron 58 which has been significantly enhanced and improved from an already good boat into a great boat.

This sure is a great example of how a boat can be modified to its full potential and manufacturers should take note of Mr Wolf's extensive yet often simple (simple for the manufacturer at time of build I mean, not so simple after market) but effective modifications and enhancement to the boat. Seems Mr Wolf is demonstrating more innovation that some of the manufacturers that are described as 'innovators' and yet they have expensive R&D depts and budgets.

I think that some of Mr Wolf's modifications should be compulsory on boats of this size and sticker price.

It was also great to see that a broker was willing to go several extra miles to keep a customer happy and no one has commented on that. The forum loves to complain about dodgy brokers and dealers but no comments about a good one.

And finally what about the underwater lights, no comments even from the dissenting raggie quarter.

Mr Wolf, hats off to you! Please pimp my boat. ;)

Knowing Essex I bet they photographed your boat a lot and are using your skills to sell the last few SQ58's with Mod upgrades!

No problem at all with that, just a little cheeky of Mr Wolf to take the credit!

Given the new raft of 60 fts now on the Market are you still happy with the Sq58? How did all the chartering go over the summer?

Cheers

Paul

Thank You Mr Wolf!

Well I didn't know about that either so a very pleasant surprise.

I confess I think Mr Wolf's boat has been beautifully fitted out and some of the DIY features are stunning, my favourite being the removable Bow Drinks table. I understand there are to be more updates this winter .. does the man ever stop?

I enjoyed MBY this month ..again ...

Incidentally I believe we have met 'Mr Wolf' before ... can anyone actually remember when & how? You will have to have been around this forum a LONG time though.

Mr Wolf is I understand the mby forum equivalent of the Stig but on a much more sophisticated big boaty scale, "some say his underpants are made of real seaweed". Etc etc

No, wasnt my drift ... I thought we had a discussion once about a letter a 'Mr Wolf' wrote to MBY. I could of course be totally wrong and probably when you were still a closet stinky ;)

Gotta admit, this is in the long distant past. I sort of remember (and might have written the letter?), but I dont remeber what he letter was about. Can you enlighten me? Tcm and I also used the name Mr Wolf to blag a jet to pick me up in London, him & MrsTCM in GVA, then take us all to Nice. About 2 yrs ago, and it worked. But that was off the forum, wasn't it?

Hi Paul
Yes all good. Loving the boat. I love much about the new 60footers esp the Azi58 but I made decision not to have mid cabin and instead to have the 5-cabin set up on Sq58, which gives me a serious laundry/store/crew cabin that you'd be lucky to have on a 75footer. Still happy with that decision. As well as all their improvements, the new 60's all have something lacking: Azi 58 has a joke sized freshwater tank and no internal stairs, Princess flybridges aren't right imho, Ferretti flybridges are atrocious, and so on. I so wish Fairline would have made a Sq58 "Evo". Ho hum, but I'm loving the boat, still the best flybridge deck in class, and I've really enjoyed the new light oak contemporary interior

Charter business in the 18-20m segement has been strong. I turned down several requests including a 6 week charter that Nick took instead, but I accepted some day charters plus a 2-weeker in Corsica/Sardina (which are beautiful). I've found the demand strong becuase it's a new boat and so have held my rack rate whereas others discount. So yeah, it's been good. It's not really a full-on business for me but if it were a business it would have been great and could have made £150k over 8-9 weeks of charter (that's operating profit, margin, not allowing for paying the capital cost of the boat of course, but you know what I mean)

I remember Mr Wolf's 'other' incarnation. I'm sure that was never discussed here, but thought he'd written a MBY letter which became ' a hot topic' on here some years before that. Possibly about design standards of a British manufacturer?I've searched the archives though and can find nothing ... so probably mixing my characters up and totally mistaken :o

Ah, yes, was it the one where he complained that all the designers of a certian builder had gone to Lanchester Poly? And didn't he write 3 letters on the same topic, and they ALL got published in the same letters page of MBY. Alan Harper days I think (whose recent Fidget articles I've enjoyed reading - makes me fancy a boat in Dartmouth :-) ).

That was it !!!

I do however note that the aforementioned establishment has been more recently designated the superior 'University' status. I assume this meets with Mr Wolf's approval as reflecting an improvement in Design Standards?
