The originally fitted Moyle Winch is in need of a refurb. It grundles, grumbles and generally complains. There are two very rusted keys one in each of the gypsies that look pretty immovable. The main requjirement though is to get rid of the play in the central spindle. Anyone done this? I could be persuaded not to bother as its single action and each forward and back movement of the handle brings in a whole 4" of chain - I worked out the other day that if I put out all my chain, it would take me 37 minutes to haul it all back up! /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif But the winch is part of the original bits and I'm kind of attached to it. Any advice - on winch refurb please.

I had a look inside one of these that I was thinking of buying from a friend. I'm almost certain that it was double-acting. Inside it had two lengths of chain and two cycle sprockets, one for pull and one for push. If I'm right, and you overhaul it, you should halve your retrieval speed!
