Hello,

Sorry to post again but as some of you will have seen from my previous threads we purchased a Hydrovane which will be with us in March.

Can I ask for any recommendations for an installer somewhere near London who has carried out this work previously? or who any of you would recommend?

We are in St Katharine Docks and of course will pay for the work.

Thank you again.

Oliver

It's no big deal to install it yourself. The trickiest part for me (& it wasn't that tricky) was to make the teak transom pads.

If you come round to the east coast there are plenty of yards up & down the Orwell that will do it for you (at a price).

They are very easy to fit. I managed to fit mine myself- just used a line to the end of the boom to hold it in place to mark the holes to drill, then again to hold it while I ran the bolts in.
I tell a lie- I needed someone else on the pontoon to hold a spanner on the bolts while I guddled about inside with the socket - that was the hardest part.

Edit - you've chosen an excellent bit of kit.

I found it useful to look at another one fitted and in situ before doing my Navik, better to do it yourself really and loads easier with two......

Thank you for both your suggestions. I gather this is a simple job but unfortunately I do not have the tools to undertake the task. I can see that it would be easy with two but I want a professional to give his opinion on strenghening our transom as this may also need to be done not to mention possibly moving the life raft that is mounted on the pushpit.

If you do know of anyone who is local to London who can help it would be much appreciated.

Maybe a Hydrovane is different, but I fitted my Navik using the normal set of hand tools that I always carry on the boat.
Obviously a Hydrovane is a heavier beast though.
