We here in the Irish Republic, have almost the same bank holidays as you guys and galls in the UK except that our August holiday is the first Monday in the month not the last.

I believe that this is better because it is usually warmer and the days are definately longer.

Ours was the first Monday in August but was changed a few years ago to make the holiday season longer.

Why do you need bank holidays? I work in a 24 hours 7 days aweek operation and it does quite nicely thank you. I "work" for 4 weeks then have 4 weeks off. The whole setup of industry and commerce just needs a little organisation.
That should set the fur flying!!!

But work is only for those that are employed! For the rest everyday is a bank holiday.
