Mounting stuff on mizzen masts

I need to come up with an optimum way to mount the usual bits of kit aloft on a smallish boat with a mizzen mast. Both masts are of wood. Main mast has a bore for cables, but narrow. And anything aloft could also be obscured / obstructed by the gunter yard. Mizzen mast too small to take cable internally, so I'd need to find some aesthetic way to surface mount a cable.

When I think through all the options, I conclude that something needs to go on the mizzen. I would use that for the masthead light, but it would be obscured by the mainsail if I was motor sailing. Then I thought about putting the Raymarine wind instrument on top of the mizzen, but then I wonder if the position of the mizzen aft of both main sail and foresail will render it useless.

It's only a smallish mizzen - the top comes about half way up the main mast, and it's reasonably far aft (mounted directly over the rudder post). While the reading wouldn't be perfect, would it be good enough if I munted the wind instrument there?

Any ideas of the most aesthetic way to surface-mount a cable on the mizzen?

I know there are lots of options, but it would have been a lengthy post to explain why I'm favouring this option. Yes, I know one of the options is to use tell-tales and my own senses.

Wind guage on your mizzen will be severely affected by the backdraft of the main! That's why the mizzen is usually hauled in tighter than the main. Put it on your Main or just use tell tails on luff, leach & ribbons on the shrouds.

You cant have your steaming/masthead light on your mizzen if it's obstructed by the main.
I would make up wood channels, "U" shaped, to cover the cables on the front of the mizzen. First clip the cables with copper clips on the front of the mast, then fix the channels over the top of the cables, making them large enough to cover the cables and clips. Dont glue them on, use small bronze screws, then you can remove them to replace cables.
