Hi. I have mounted my P58 transducer to my boat. Mounted it far to the side to avoid vacum in the propeller wich is very close to the boat.

The problem is that the 3 screw holes whent all the way thru the hull ( No plywood ) only gelcoat and a thick layer of fiberglass. It feels sturdy and i have used Marine grade silicone on the screwholes and around the screws.

Will this hold the transducer when going speeds up to 25 knots ? Im scared that the transducer will rip rhe screws out and be stuck with 3 holes under the waterline. The boat is a 14 footer with double hull.

Thank you

Water pressure is unlikely to pull it out but a knock from running over a floating piece of wood will. If it was my boat, I would not use silicone (ever, on anything) instead mix a blob of epoxy, put it in the screw hole and screw in. This will add additional security and is the method recommended for fitting Bennett trim tabs while have to take a lot of strain.
