A few weeks ago I decided to take some of the pain out of mountaineering by borrowing a 4x4 camper van. I proceeded up the Troutback valley and quickly ascended the lofty peaks of Ill-Bell, Froswick and Yoke - pausing not for breath as were pedestrians - but to put on the kettle and attend to buttering and devouring hot crumpet. As night fell - I worried not about a suitable place to bivouac - just found a level bit of ground and hunkered down for the night with a splendid M&S meal which I'd taken from the fridge and committed to the oven and then slid beneath the goose-down duvet for a well earned sleep at an altitude of around 1500m
This all makes for a marvellous past-time - a little like motorsailing it can be done without purchase of specialist clothing - just a cardigan and a butter knife are all that is required.
I commend this activity to the house.

As you need to be safe in the high altiude winds; what sort of anchor do you recommend for the Highlands? Can the same sort be used in the Peak District? /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

In bowing to your superior pedanticness, I asknowledge the error of my communication which should, of course, have read along the lines of ' at a height of some 1500 metres above sea level'

In closing may I thank you for taking the time and trouble to point out my error and I hope that you are now satisfied by the corrected passage with which I have now furnished you?

Erm, Ben Nevis is only 1344m above sea level.

In Scotland once a frail old man
Thought he'd take a camper van
To hike in comfort on the hills
instead of getting colds and chills.
But dearie me, he couldna tell,
how high it was to 'top of fell
So in his wheelhouse now he sits
'cos it's not sae far to go to relieve himself.
