This is a real post on the motor boat forum.
"The surface drives would cost less to maintain and would
require only 2 * 150hp instead of 2 * 170hp. And you'd look like the dog's with those big rooster tails following you around the solent."

Does this just about sum it all up? I keep an open mind (apart from the wash jockey's) with motor boater's but....

Just written something about motor boats in reply to your previous post about proper sailing. Yes this really does sum up some of them, but they are not all like that. Just like us, there's good and bad ones, but the bad ones are so much more obvious in a Sunseeker or Princess than in a Westerly or a Jeanneau.

We don't want you to travel at two knots - the word is CONSIDERATION for others. If you want to blast around don't show off in the harbour mouth. Take a look at the considerate power boaters in Chichester entrance being tossed about by the big fella "giving it the gun" or what ever you like to call it! It's not a case of winging as you put it, people will get hurt because of actions like this, or maybe you don't care?

I've been stepping out of dinghy's, lifting outboards of transoms, raising and lowering masts ..... I've lost count of the number of incidents that MB's have caused me to lose balance / nearly do an injury !

I wouldn't mind so much, but those that have done it have seemed to show complete contempt and disregard !

Everyone to their own, but get out of my space !

Interesting! There are probably as many threads/posts on the MB forum, complaining about ignorant rag and stick merchants cutting across bows, racing in channels etc etc.

May I propose a simple solution? Powerboats on even days, rag & sticks on odd days. That means we get one less day a year than you guys, but we're generous like that.

If you insist on putting dinghy marker buoys in the middle of Chichester harbour entrance and racing around them then what do you expect? And whilst I'm on the subject of dinghies I was poodleing along at itchenor at about 6 kts watching a dinghy tacking (or what ever you call it) indiscriminately back and forth across the channel, easily pulling away from me, surely the 8 knts apply to sails as well?

No, apparently, all rules are suspended if you have a big tall stick in the middle of the boat. Speed limits apply only to motorboats. I am reliably informed that the Titanic hit an iceberg after swerving to avoid a dinghy...

Your original post was whinging about rooster tails not about speeding in harbours or restricted channels, as for the post below complaining about the incodsiderate few and tarring the rest of us with the same brush.

Not all motorboaters are so inconsiderate of the yottie( and wash effects all of us )Yes I go slow in marinas yes I go slow in the trots Yes I pass astern of most yots if Im close....do they even notice ?.........if so the cheery wave and a smile was lost on them,as they turned their backs and complained to their friends of "those cursed motor boaters ".
