Hi,

My Morse engine control is getting very stiff which I have traced to the control cables. We have TFX 700 ss Morse and a Yanmar 1GM 10 engine. My question is are all control cables the same? I'm thinking of buying Vetus low friction cables. Is it just a case of ordering the right length or are there different threads etc? Any recommendations as to product/supplier??

Cheers,

Dave

I believe the designation for control cables normally used for inboard engines is 3300 and/or 33C.
I think you can trust the Vetus low friction cable to meet the same standard.
End fittings will be similar, minimum radius may vary though.

The default is Morse 33C with various low friction versions available this is mirror ended cable with 10/32 uni rod ends 3”stroke with a slot for outer cable location
Be aware there are some heavy duty versions with bigger conduit and core that are physically too large to fit some controls and should be avoided
Cables run with long straights and tighter bends about 9” radius are better than long sweeping bends as they avoid drag
