Popped up to Allington lock last week to have a chat with duty lockeeper.Spotted the 4 ? new moorings opposite the Malta Inn about 200m up from lock just before Allington Castle.
Board attacched to mooring ask you to contact Allington Castle.
So all you lot below the lock constantly whinging about not going anywhere cos of fuel costs,a chance to use your boat on a short cheap trip upriver, somewhere decent to park your boat with shorepower power.
All for about £20.00 to use lock and a tenner to park your gin palace.Brownie points from the wife because she can use her hair dryer and no **** waves to contend with.

Might I suggest that the facilities you describe would be quite, even perhaps more, suitable for a Commodore Cruise in future years. Protected waters, little wind, easy mooring up, go ashore with clean shoes and a nice Blazer, Maidstone shops not far away, Pub even closer, a Travelodge for wimps, ah well Rochester is not far away for a quick motor down there.

Well with the amount of what look like liveaboard grp boats moored up near the road bridge, it wont be long and all the spare spaces will be gone!
This seems to have happened in the last few months, before the bank was always empty except at weekends now theres always at least 3/4 boats moored there.

Pity they didn't put them further down river where those of us with masts can get to them!

Don't worry Maby when Sun Pier is back in action (soon if we believe the local paper....) we'll be able to use this facility to get to Staples - which will be really handy if you need a new soft pencil for your chart work!

Simply nowhere below lock to moor except for emergency drying out.
Sun Pier will be back soon.It was supposed to go back in during the weekend of the Great Slight Breeze of 2013, has been rescheduled in next couple of weeks.
Will be vital that the pier is gated and secure, othewise nobody in their right mind is going to use it.
It will a magnet for the local ..............Insert noun of choice.

Would love to get to Allington and beyond. Can you arrange for Aylesford bridge to be raised a couple of feet. :D

RCC Xmas "Cruise"

This year we have 18 boats going up to Allington Lock/the Malta including a Princess 415,a couple of big Brooms,a Sealine 43 and the usual clutch of Turbo 36s/Corniches etc.
Just a case of arriving at the Bridge with sufficient water underneath and enough space above.
On the return home the big stuff locks out first leaving the low airdraft boats till last.
