There was a time when Yachting Monthly highlighted the scandal of substandard rubbish being put into new boats. If your information is correct now they collude with it.
Such is progress, but not much to be proud about there.

It's true-ish; brass, DZR or not, will degrade when exposed to salt water and need close inspection at haul-out, 10 years might be a more accurate 'book' life for DZR provided they're not subject to dodgy stray currents or defective anode protection. Bronze fittings should be inspected(as should all underwater fittings) but generally they should last the life of the vessel.

I beg to differ. The DZR Blakes seacocks on our previous Sadler 29 (1984 vintage) were a) original to the boat and b) still fine when we sold her a few years ago. The exception to this was the heads outlet, which I replaced at around 30 yrs old, as the plug had got pitted (too deep to grind out) and wasn't sealing properly. I'm guessing this was due to nasties in the toilet outlet...
