Moorings problems

One of ours is on a swinging, drying mooring made up of

more than half ton solid ring with hole in - 5m of 38mm chain through that and folded back to make 2m length then 12mm all the way up to the mooring buoy

At point where the chain would wrap round the keel if she bilged, there is an 80Lb catenary weight

Trouble is with those we see in places like Falmouth is no decent size chain and no decent catenary weight. See the way they're at full stretch.

The boat needs to be free to rock and roll so all chain etc should be supported by the buoy.

This worked in one harbour for years when N'lies brought 10 foot swells into the harbour.
