Having parted with my largish cruiser ( sob sob) I realise that I still need to get out on the water. I am only an hour from Windermere so I thought that a trailer sailer would be nice but on a mooring so I could sail when I wished but have the option to move the boat for a long holiday somewhere and maybee bring her home for winter storage and upkeep.
We also like to camp ( camper van/tents) and understand that there are some sites with boat storage/launching/mooring access. So some sort of combined location would be great.
Can anyone advise on this please Places and rough costs etc
( say an 18 to 22 foot boat)
Much obliged

seem to recall moorings at approx £700 pa
marina costs £2000 upwards
try Windermere Lake Wardens Ferry Nab: Telephone 01539 442753:

For a mooring on the lake talk to the wardens office, we found that after being told many times via the 'phone that there were no moorings available and there was no chance of any coming up suddenly there was a choice of locations when we were stood in the office talking to them face to face.

You may have to have a mooring laid, approx £500, or may be lucky enough to get one with equipment already there.

As far as I am aware people with mooring cannot just sell them on and you have to deal through the wardens office, this may differ on some other parts of the lake.
We pay about £800 p.a. for our 27ft yacht.

Have a look at the caravan storage places as well as it may be cheaper to store away from the lake and launch when needed.

It's £103 per metre at present.

At the bottom of this pdf file is a map of the location of moorings. http://www.southlakeland.gov.uk/downloads/page1278/Boat_Mooring_Application_Form_07.pdf

Do not take a mooring unless you can determine if there is a chance of having your tender stored locally. Most lake shore tender places are privately owned and can be up to £200 per year. The Fallbarrow North and South moorings have a tender problem now since the museum got difficult about the landings. But they are still available. (£175 tender, £150 field gate key deposit)

There are quite a few moorings available this year (surprise) but the suitability needs checking out first. Marina moorings are a lot more money, easily £2k or more.
