We're hoping to move down to Polruan, near Fowey in Cornwall this year. I'll be looking for winter storage and hopefully a swinging mooring near there. I realise there are probably huge waiting lists and they'll be expensive but any ideas?
Boat is a fin keel Varne 27, drawing 1.5m.
Thanks

FHC offer storage at Penmarlam. Moorings - you might be lucky with your size boat, I’ve been on the waiting list since 2016, nothing yet. Be sure to join Gallants sailing club in Fowey very friendly fun place away from the masses.

Saint Winnow Yachts do winter storage: I helped a friend to take his boat up there last autumn. Run by a very obliging and knowledgeable chap.

It's slightly primitive, on an active farm - now mainly run by one of his children I believe - but in a delightful rural location a good way above Fowey. Whatever you do, go into the church; it's a gem!

If you see me sculling past (grey-haired chap in a wooden Carl Douglas single), give a wave...

That sounds lovely, thank you. I'll look out for you.

Next time you are down have a word in the office at Tom's yard in Polruan. An old family run business and the present boss has had a lot to do with the sailing scene and is often in the Gallants clubhouse. Would be a good place to overwinter, right on your doorstep - moorings may well be more tricky.

I popped in there when we were down but he wasn't around. Will definitely make contact. I noticed the commodore of the club was called Toms.
