we are going to turn right out of Bray Marina on friday night and go to Penton Hook marina for a couple of nights. On the saturday, we are wanting to cruise for a couple of hours, moor up , and then go some where for Lunch. I'm guessing that Walton on Thames might be our best bet, so can anyone tell me where to moor up and also recommend and restaurants. I am happy to walk into town for a bit in order to find any decent food places rather than the riverside tourist traps.

thanks in advance

Hampton Court moorings are free, lovely and a n easy walk over the bridge to the local pubs and restaurants. Mezzet Dar is excellent by the way...

We did do just that a few years ago, but did find it quite a long day, travelling to Hampton Court and back, although I think there was quite a few delays at some of the locks.

Can you access Shepperton Village from the river okay, as that might be another option.

Yes if you can get a mooring in Lady Lindseys Lawn (amongst all the gippos)

It's only ten miles, should be no more than 2-3 hours, but well worth it. Shepperton is a bit too close, but you could either use LL Lawns as Mike suggested, or use the EA moorings and pop into the Minnow. Hampton court has more to offer though, if you're 'lock lucky'

The Anglers, Walton. Moorings outside and along the bank. Good food and another'good alternative pub/eatery next door if you fancy it(the name escapes me).
It depends what type of food you want, but if you like southern Indian curry, Cocum in Hampton Court is well worth a visit. The Molesey side of the river offers just about everything, including a charming little French place.

Yes, the French restaurant is superb. We had a meal in there a few weeks ago.

well we had decided to go to East Molesey as there is a great choice of places to eat there, but now looking at the weather forecast, I'm not sure we are going to bother. Showing rain Friday evening (when we had planned to travel to Penton Hook), and rain Saturday afternoon !!

Don't let some inclement weather spoil a good weekend. Wind and rain are unpleasant but we're not mid Atlantic or the Bay of Biscay. Treat as a challenge rather than a deterrent and you'll probably enjoy it and be happy to do it more often. On the upside there will be fewer boats out to get in the way and you should have no problems finding a mooring ! Go for it
