Moorings in the "semi" tidal Thames

Moorings in the \"semi\" tidal Thames

I gather that the lower reaches of the tidal Thames are woefully bereft of mooring spots, but does anyone know if there are any overnight leisure moorings in the "semi" tidal Thames, ie Twickenham or Richmond?

Mine is 27', drawing no more than a couple of feet, but would be interested in what facilities are available if you have the knowledge!

There are moorings available at Teddington below the lock, fully serviced floating pontoons. PM me and I will give you the chaps details.

There are several more just depends what you want, what ever one you go for, parking is not great but the nearer Teddington you are the easier it is.

I was just after an overnighter; can moor just above Teddington and stroll over the bridge to the Anglers et al - I just fancied going down to Richmond for a beer and a bite /forums/images/graemlins/ooo.gif

Try Hammertons Ferry Rob, floating moorings and a short stroll through the gardens. Get lucky and there may be a concert wiht fireworks. Used to be £10 per night for AG, water and 'leccy included. You will need to arrange in advance.

There are 2 spots outside the Barmy Arms in Twickenham that should fit you.

The first one is the downriver side of the middle steps up from the fishing punts and the second is upriver of the next steps going west. Both will just take your draft, so be careful. The 2nd steps are used for the funeral boat, so please give him the access to the steps.

Remember that there is nowhere to moor in Richmond to go ashore for any length of time ...

The pontoon outside the White Cross is owned by Turks , and now we are into the good weather , they are about even in the evening.

Which reminds me, I must give Mike Turk his key back, he gave me a key to the gate there years ago.

If you are shallow draft and you don't mind climbing up and down a wall you can moor just downstream from the Turks pontoon.

I have tied up here for an hour or two with no problems. I wouldn't attempt an overnight stop though because of the alcohol fuelled mayhem that is Richmond riverside.

They dont mind if you tuck a small cruiser onto the end of the pontoon though but will not slow down if you are in the way /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
There is room under Twickenham Bridge , i assume they have the depth for boats waiting to go through Richmond lock and there are also chains there but very muddy . You can tie up to the railings at high tide but you gotta watch your boat at all times .
I may have to get down there with the Hilti to drill a few holes for mooring pins /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

It wouldn't hurt the businesses of Richmond/Twickers to front for a reasobale all tide mooring pontoon with shore access and some security. I for one would stump up a fiver per 24 hours now and again. And the thrill of boating to a match, no scramble in the traffic queue:-)
