Does anyone know if its possible to moor at Wapping Pier or Cherry Garden Pier either short or long term (or anywhere else around this area, excluding St Katherines and Hermitage Wharf)?

The only place I can think of is South Dock Marina where you may get a short-term berth (though there's a long waiting list for long-term)

Ah yes, sorry, I should have put in one other criteria it has to be accesible in the evenings in summer!
Galleons Point would be perfect, but they shut the lock at 17:30 apparently, South Dock I think is around 18:00.
Ideally I need somewhere that stays open until 21:00 (I know there are places such as Imperial Wharf further up, but I'm looking for somewhere closer to Wapping as thats where I'm moving house too).

Great location, but I believe they are full and unless I am mistaken, I thought they shut the lock early too?

South Dock has a 24 hour operation (or they did last time I checked) , therefore your constraint is state of the tide and not the time of day. They have visitor berths.

Used to have, last time i went in there on that assumption, they then told me only operate during daylight hours.

Essentially yes...which is why I'm thinking South Dock may not be the best idea, may annoy far too many people!

When I was in South Dock there was a staff member in the lock office H24 so they were there to operate the lock and provide security. Has that changed?

Visitors are given a keypad number to enable access. I called South Dock to clear things up.
07:00-19:00 during the week 08:00-17:00 at weekends, however for residents it would be possible to open the lock outside of these hours if it was pre-arranged.
The waiting list apparently is massive though (as expected), so its a non-starter for a permanent berth!

Have often passed by there and wondered how bad it must be to moor there, and thats just my wash!! (and I am not that fast)

Agreed, and restaurants up the road not bad in an evening. We took my 17 year old son as a Minder!
Bets bit about South Dock and Limehouse is the locking in and out can be very quick if they just open the gates and let 20 feet of water out.

Greenwich Yacht Club moorings require a tender to get to, which is a no go for me as my boat is essentially a tender!
South Dock/Limehouse would be great, but due to their opening hours and more importantly the fact they are both full means they look like they won't work either :-(
