Mooring Warps

My newly acquired Oyster 406 came with a motley collection of mooring warps, few of which appear up to much. What quantity, length, diameter and material would you recommend (and which suppliers)? The 406 is 40' 6" LOA and displaces around 9500 Kg but in cruising trim probably closer to 11000 Kg. she will be S Coast based for a few years before going liveaboard cruising.

Thanks

Neil

The reality depends on your crusing area, but as a guide , what is the max length between piles that you would moor between? so you meed one rope of that length less the boat length, plus the usual ecommendations of 2x boat length etc. dont forget string outs in big dutchlocks etc if you intend going that way, as some times yacht traffic is diverted to the commercial locks when busy.

>I would recommend multiplait ropes for mooring - anything else makes a squeak as the boat moves about.

Agree and I would add multiplait doesn't have a memory, the reason all our warps are multplait. Also agree Jimmy Green is the place to go.
