In the summer I leave my swinging mooring for weeks at a time as well as long weekends. Wouldn't it be nice to swop moorings while on a cruise . We usually go west from the Solent but thinking of going East next summer. Could we have a post where you could say when your mooring will be free, with a lat/long, and if you are going there and I'm going your way we could simply swop for no charge. I know it might not please the Harbour master but surely you can lend your mooring to a "friend " I try to anchor most places but some places ie Fowey have no anchoring and visitors moorings cost.

I don’t know about the other West Country places but at Newton Ferrers the residents’ moorings are free for you to occupy if there is not dinghy attached but you will be charged the normal rates. You could also be put on a resident’s mooring in Salcombe in the past but this didn’t seem to happen to us in later years. Facebook would only work for small numbers, so I can see the attraction of an app, though this would be of no use to us marina-lizards.
