Just thought I'd test the water and see if anyone may be interested.....

I've just bought a 15 metre mooring at MDL's new Spanish marina at San Carles about 100 miles south of Barcelona. We visited it a couple of weeks ago, nice town, lovely restaurants etc, all in a large protected bay. The marina will be open April/May next year with clubhouse & pool etc though the full development will continue for some further months.

Unfortunately I'm not going to be able spend enough time out there for at least a couple of years to justify moving the boat out there.

Ideally I'd like to do a swop with someone who has a similar sized UK mooring - ideally the Thames but we'd consider anywhere else on the South Coast.

We have bought a 15m one as well. How is the development progressing? I've looked at the web cam but it is difficult to see much progress.
We plan to move in at the end of July 2008, do you think club & pool will be ready by then?

The project manager down there is very confident that they'll have the moorings in on time and the clubhouse ready. She's a competent lady - and very well connected (she was Director of the Tarragona Coastguard Centre and her husband is HM at Sant Carles.

I don't suppose we'll really know until may - but there was a lot happening!

Little bad news for you - I think
We are buying one of the 20m berths

I heard at SIBS that they have had problems sorting out foundations for the buildings - it seems that they were going to pile the foundations but the ground isnt suitable so concrete floating foundations are now required - some sort of permission is required that has put a delay on the buildings.

On a positave note tho' they WILL have the berths ready and some temp facilities until the main buildings are ready. Also the landscaping (trees etc) is on schedule.

This is all "here say" tho'

I'm not at all worried - I know the area well - used to have a villa about 25 miles up the coast. This is going to be a great area to keep the boat - nice and Spanish - and the lagoon should be great. The marina has been very popular and, I believe that phase 2 has been brought forward.

Cant wait - part way through our master plan - old boat sold - new boat soon to be bought - next year we deliver her to Sant Carles.

I was out in Sant Carles during the final weekend of the boatshow and I was told definitely that there were no problems. Equally there were no foundations!
