Mooring price increase

Boatfolk in Bangor Northern Ireland is around 9% increase if you pay at the end of contract or with a 2% discount if you pay up by the end of Feb, it works out around 7%. Plenty for a currently crumbling marina.
Council owned and they have no interest in filling the empty berths. I did a FoI request and "they ,know nothing".

Is it me or are Boatfolk getting a poor reputation?
Trying to be as balanced as possible, I don't know. If you use Bangor as the example then yes, Boatfolk are not popular. Fees have gone up significantly since i've been here (3 1/2 years) and facilities etc have gone in the opposite direction. At Bangor, Boatfolk seem to show a stereotypical private-equity model, of absolute minimal expenditure + some worrying financial reports. That said, they are only managing a council owned site, so that clouds things and NI does seem to be a bit 'isolated' in it's operations compared to GB.

I have heard some people on the South Coast of England being quite happy in some Boatfolk marinas, so it may depend on which one..

That doesn't surprise me I'm afraid.. Bangor strikes me that Ards n North Down Council just want it out of their hair. They seem very disinterested in actual Bangor matters..

Is that a one off, or has there been big rises year on year? A sports club I am a member of (not sailing) has just caused uproar by putting up its modest annual fee by 15% - but its had the same fees since 2018, is they will likely not increase again for another 2 or 3 years.
That 15% is this year, over 10% each year for the previous two. The increases have only been surpassed by the number of press releases telling us how great value it is.
Since Covid the marina has been full with a waiting list, after decades of always having a few spaces, and the pricing has shot up.
