Hi I am look for what is know as Frakes Automatic Mooring pegs. Basically a mooring pin where you don't need a hammer to secure and un-secure it. Anybody knows where to buy these? I tried to search the web but with no luck what-so-ever.

Not heard of these sorry but have you tried B&Q(superstore), they do screw in ground anchors made of galvanized steel, if its any help.

Is there any more info / detail about what you actually want to do with this unknown item ???

These are used by narrowboats mostly, I don't know of any particular Inland swindelry that has them, but try a few canal marina shops. As you can see nobody who goes to sea even knows what your talking about /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Mooring pins (plus mooring lines) on the river/canal are used to secure the vessel to the riverbank. Hammer the mooring pins into the ground so they act as a fixed point to attach the mooring line - normally use a club hammer to drive the pins in.

I know about Bank sticks ....

I assumed that's what was meant ... but wanted to be sure .... as never heard a Manufacturers name ....

Most I saw as well used a grapnel style banged in ... or a Tree !!!

Im not sure where to get them but ive seen them in use . The top part of the bar slides into the bottom and knocks it into the ground . Probably still need the lump hammer if the ground is hard .

The normal stamp in with your foot kind are called rond anchors. When we took our trailer sailer to the Broads a guy at a boatyard mentioned them. We looked blank. He said "you're obviously not boaty people". Mortified, we were.
