Mooring Buoy etiquette

We sail on Windermere where anchoring can be a bit of a pain, there seem to be a lot of empty moorings this year, is it be ok to pick up a vacant mooring for a short stop ie lunch? What’s the etiquette?

As long as there's always someone on board and you move straight away if the owner turns up then its not usually regarded as a problem.
