Went to watchet for an overight stay saturday pulled into the marina at lunchtime signal lights were out plenty of water in marina nothing to worry about.
1 hour later the pics say it all IM perched on the mud and the harbours dried out electricty went down in the town as the flood gate was supposed to rise and marina batterys that work in case of electric failure were knackered
I didnt know I could dry out !!!!!!!!

Wonder what the insurance implications are if you've sustained any damage... Hope you haven't btw.

Did the marina agreed to cover any damage or are you in a "at own risk" situation?

D'oh yeah, that happened to me when the old gate was in and it got stuck one night - didnt i tell you about it?

Really soft mud everything should be ok - presume it was!

Hi Sami,

Only just got in after a weekend out. (Not in the boat, unfortunately). Did there appear to be any damage to the boats berthed there? Mine is one of them! I know we have a problem with silt but this is altogether different. One would have thought that the marina people could have rang and let owners know the situation - I could have got down this afternoon and made sure my boat was alright. Will ring them tomorrow.
Cheers
Kev

its happened to me there before and the mud is sooooo soft, my outdrives just went in to it and came out with out even removing any antifoul from them. Just dont flush your toilet or try to start you engines.

Every thing should be fine, just make sure you check.

(BTW whats your boat called?)

Last year there was a big fair at Watchet and they asked that the big boats be near the wall right up near to the town wall that is - this is so it would look impressive. I duly berthed Drumbeat there after assurances that there was going to be enough water.

The boat in front of us actually tipped over as the water went and we sat in a sort of soft mud just like your boat. I pointed out to then that there was no water and they said it would make no difference - they were right, it did not.

Think of Watchet marina water as just thicker than most other water and thats about it!

Hi Mark my Broom Crown could take the ground as she was semi dis and had a large keel which kept the props off the ground.

Believe yours is a planning hull? If so I guess Broom keep the keel?

I used to moor a shaftdrive Turbo 36 at a little marina on the River Itchen in Southampton which dried out every tide. I was very dubious at first but the owner said it was'nt a prob and indeed it was'nt. She just settled into the soft mud. Downside was you could'nt use the bog when the tide was out and the log paddlewheel was always gummed up
If a marina is dredged, any future settlement is very soft but I would'nt want to dry out in an undredged marina

Picture merely shows a proper berth.Might be worth checking the strainers 5 mins after start up once she is afloat again, the silt will go straiight through of course but might be a few bigger lumps of stuff a-lurking in that there goo.
