Got a 91 Moody 336 with the tulip shaped bolted on P bracket . Imagine a letter Y with the shaft at the bottom of the Y, and the top V shaped part of the Y replaced by a wine glass shape with flanges.
The hull / P bracket join is over laminated down to about 3 inches above the top of the prop shaft and today I noticed a slight leak of brown liquid coming out of this laminate.
To cut a long story short, I removed the laminating and then the P bracket itself to find that it is bolted to a flat part of the hull thus creating a void between the tulip / wine glass shaped part of the P bracket and the hull. This had filled with water.
Two questions come to mind:
1/ Is the over laminating normal (it isnt there on a friends Moody 35) or is this some bodged repair? When I re-install, do I over laminate again?
2/ What do you fill the void with to avoid it filling with water?
Anyone had a P bracket off such a boat?
