Did anyone else get caught in the downpour that occurred at about 2:15 ish today? We were approaching the Hamble entrance and in the space of 3 mins the viz went right down as the heavens opened......

Hard to see the next pile as we came up the entrance.

Stll, at least it rinsed all the salt off the boat!! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Solent is rather a broad based statement! We went to Portsmouth, pontoon bashed and then went to Osbourne Bay for a bit of anchoring - experienced a few drops there, but it lasted maybe 2 mins and left a few drops on the dash. From there, back to Hamble. No rain worth talking off at all all weekend. Just goes to show how isolated the weather has become of late. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

The Solent can have some very inclement weather at times.

I can remember coming home after a very easy trip, where things had changed dramatically. Stern of boat was below top of waves, and we still hadn't hit the bottom with the bow. Quite a long trip home in those conditions at very low speeds, yet only 2 hours earlier we'd been planing.

Solent is not as innocuous as it sometimes seems.

Yep, I was actually driving to Northney and caught the storm just east of Chi, unbelievable rain for a few miles, roads rivers, wipers useless and 20mph too fast.... A few miles west of Chi, roads dry. Had a lovely afternoon buzzing around Chi harbour /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

It really tipped down - we were trying to get twenty-odd dinghys back onto the club pontoon at the time and I didn't have a second to get my oilies on. You couldn't see across the river at one point. Still slightly damp this morning!

cheers,

We were in Chichester and it absolutely pi$$ed down for about half hour. Visability was down to maybe 50mtrs. I don't think I've seen it rain so hard for so long. I think everyone's "perception" who got caught in the heavy downpoor was that it rained a lot........

We drove home about an hour after the rain and by the time we got to Arundel there were no signs that it had rained there at all.

Hi Kev,

Was it you that put my covers on? Many thanks if it was. We were down on the beach at East Wittering, by the time we realised the rain wasn't going to pass to the East it was too late to get the kids out of the sea and drive back.

Cheers

Mark

Hi Mark,

Thought about leaving them off just to see how wet mine would get if the same happened to me /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I put them on the best I could considering how hard it was raining. I hope it stayed dry.

I've got some pics of the BBQ sat night with the flame red sky, what an amazing sight. Great night wasn't it.

We're of to sunny (hopefully) spain so wont be down this weekend, hopefully see you next weekend.

Kevin.
